Since there is so much confusion about whether these sets resistances actually do anything in PvM or not, I tested it.
Using a level 101 BP wearing my full +6 Yuandain set. The Yuandain set gives me a total electrical resistance of 34, fire resistance of 34, and a total water resistance of 68. Tested only using my own BP buffs, no RM buffs and no RM present. There was no element on the Yuandain suit.
First test is against level 96 mobs. Small Shuhamma, electric versus Private Bearnerky, earth. The two mobs have the same attack rate.
Taking 20 base damage hits:
The base damage taken against the electric Small Shuhamma ranged from 508 to 565.
The base damage taken against the earth Private Bearnerky ranged from 514 to 562.
No significant difference noted between an element that I had resistances for and one that I did not.
Second test, level 99's: Small Kern, fire versus Trainee Chef Muffrin, water. The two have the same attack rate.
Same as above, 20 base damage hits (not counting blocks or crits):
The base damage taken against the water Trainee Chef Muffrin ranged from 615 to 663.
The base damage taken against the fire Small Kern ranged from 606 to 662.
No significant difference noted between one ement with reelsistances and another element with twice the resistances.
It needs to tested further, but my opinion is that these resistances actually do not work in PvM.
